Sultan Baimagambetov was born in 1920 in the village of Koyandy-Agash of the Semiozerny district of the Kostanay region. In 1940, drafted into the Red Army. From the first days of the war, from June 1941, the Sultan fought fiercely and skillfully on the Leningrad Front. Four times he trapped his hot metal of war, and each time he returned to duty. The commander of the machine gun compartment of the 147th Infantry Regiment of the 43rd Infantry Division, the 67th Army, Senior Sergeant Baimagambetov, on July 22, in a trench near the village of Sinyavino (Kirovsky District of the Leningrad Region), destroyed up to a dozen Nazis. On July 25, 1943, the advance of our troops was stopped by machine gun fire from an enemy bunker. The fate of the battle was in the hands of the Sultan, a brave warrior crawled to the firing point and threw grenades, but the machine gun did not stop. Then he rushed to the machine gun and covered it with his body. But he was very young. For his heroic deed, Sultan Baimagambetov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union posthumously on February 21, 1944. In the same year, Krasnyi Pakhar Street in Kustanai was renamed S. Baimagambetov Street. I want us, those who have not seen the horrors of war, the tears of mothers who have lost their children, remember and honor the memory of the Heroes of the war, know the history of our land, be proud of our fellow countrymen.
