
Born on August 16, 1920 in the village of Novopokrovka, Uritsky district, Kustanai region, in a peasant family. In 1940 he graduated from the Ural Institute of Teachers, in the same year he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. In 1942 he graduated from the Chkalov (Orenburg) Aviation Pilot School. On the fronts of World War II from August 1942. He fought on the Stalingrad, South, 4th Ukrainian, 3rd Belorussian fronts. He was a pilot, senior pilot, deputy commander and squadron commander, assistant regiment commander. Member of the Battle of Stalingrad, the liberation of Ukraine, Crimea, Belarus, Lithuania, offensive operations in East Prussia and Poland. By April 1944, the squadron commander of the 75th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment (1st Guards Assault Aviation Division, 8th Air Army, 4th Ukrainian Front) Guards Senior Lieutenant L.I. Beda made 109 sorties to attack the fortifications and enemy troops. On October 26, 1944, for the courage and bravery shown in battles with enemies, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. As the assistant commander of the same regiment for the air and rifle service (1st Guards Assault Aviation Division, 1st Air Army, 3rd Belorussian Front) for the next 105 combat sorties of the Guard, Major L. I. Beda was awarded of June 29, 1945 the second Gold Star medal. He died on December 26, 1976 in the line of duty. He was awarded the orders of: Lenin, Red Banner (four times), Alexander Nevsky, World War 1 degree, Red Star; medals. A bronze bust is set in Kustanai. A street in our city, an avenue in Minsk, a street in the city of Lida, Grodno region, a school in Kharkov are named after him.
